Happy Thanksgiving!
I hope you are preparing to gorge yourself on far too much turkey and pumpkin pie (if you don’t like pumpkin pie, you’re just wrong). Or maybe you’re wrapping up a turkey trot, you go-getter, you! Either way, this day is a great reminder to stop and feel gratitude for the good things we have, have done — and will do.
For my part, I’m feeling grateful this Thanksgiving for getting to work with and learn from the very special Martin Bisi this past year. Martin has a long list of engineering and productions credits ranging from Sonic Youth to Herbie Hancock — and he also recorded and mixed our new EP, More Martian Now Than Man.
I recently sat down with Martin for Episode 8 of the No Love Songs Music Business Podcast. We discussed what happened to all the record labels, and philosophical reasons why musicians push through the objective pain of a music career.

As we discussed in the interview, our new EP comes out tomorrow. Pre-save it here, or come pick up a CD at Young Ethel’s during our Black Friday show. We go on at 10:40pm, after two other rock acts: hard rockers No Given Name, and pop punk outfit The Telling Time. Give those talented fellows a follow!
We are also choosing a winner of the All My Friends Are Aliens Challenge today, but I’m gonna need a couple slices of pumpkin pie before making that decision. (Seriously, just keep your bad opinions about pumpkin pie to yourself, okay? It’s Thanksgiving!)
Thank you to everyone who donated to our devious crowdfunding scheme. Thank you to everyone who has pre-saved our EP. And thanks to Martin Bisi, for his excellent engineering -- and for a great conversation.
